Travel Precautions

There are many situations that can arise when traveling. Here are a few things you can do to make sure your vacation goes smooth and safe and you are prepared in any situation:

  • Purchase travel insurance to cover trip cancelations, medical emergencies, trip interruptions, lost/stolen or damaged  luggage, etc.

  • Take pictures of your passport and ID in case you lose them on your trip.

  • Take pictures of your luggage in the event they get lost so it is easy to show and describe to the airline.

  • Attach a luggage tag to your bag.

  • Insert an Apple Tag in your suitcase to be able to track your bag yourself.

  • Download important documents, plane and attraction tickets to your phone for handy access.

  • Add your debit and credit cards to your phones wallet app so you always have them on you!

  • Alert your credit card companies and bank that you will be traveling so that your cards don't get locked or flagged. Companies do this to protect you from fraud, so when used in a different location they might lock your card until you confirm you are the one making the charges. This can be a real hassle. Save time and let them know prior to traveling.

  • Always tell a family member or friend back at home where you are going on vacation in case of emergency.

  • Share locations with those you are traveling with and someone back at home for safety measures.

  • When traveling with multiple people, try to stay together at all times.

  • Do not carry a lot of cash or your debit card when roaming and exploring. Thieves tend to target tourists. Use credit cards since they are easy to lock if stolen versus cash or a debit card so you don't lose your personal assets.
